Artist Katie Reim starts each painting by letting the contours of a map lead her towards a composition. She alters the colors of the map to fit the mood of the place, then paints on top with acrylic and finish the details with meticulous pen and ink. She aims to capture the connection people feel towards their favorite wild places.

“After earning a degree in illustration, I bounced around between many mediums and crafts. My intense love for wilderness and painting naturally pulled me towards this latest body of work, of which I am most connected to and satisfied with.”

Megan's work explores landscapes composed of whimsical mountains, forests, deserts, rock formations, oceans and rivers.

The children and animals that typically appear as subjects radiate with innocence and a sense of wonder brought forth by a connection to nature. The characters' journey through the outdoors, exploring themes of companionship, protection, wilderness and the greatest adventure of all, love.

The Bend Store has been partnering with Megan since 2017, and we have loved every minute of it. Megan regularly brings us new prints, keeping us endlessly delighted. We also carry her coveted calendars, camping log books, postcard booklets and greeting cards.

Artist Sheila Dunn lives and works in beautiful Bend, Oregon. In 2006, she received a BFA in painting and a minor in art history from Colorado State University. 

Best known for her large, vibrant figure paintings, Sheila’s work explores the fluid relationship between figure and environment: how each continuously informs and affects the other. At the heart of this exploration lies the notion that we both form – and are formed by - all we have seen and experienced.

We have been carrying Sheila's art prints and cards since early 2018, and consider her one of our anchor artists. Stay tuned for her new fish stickers - coming soon!

Here they are... the most significant volcanoes of the Cascade Mountain Range in Oregon: Hood, Jefferson, Three Sisters, Newberry, Crater Lake, McLoughlin! The Cascade Mountains are a chain of volcanoes that stretch all the way from British Columbia to Northern California. Each volcano is identified by a portrait, elevation, coordinates and location within Washington State. Two are caldera (collapsed) volcanoes, a reminder that we live among living, volatile peaks.

The piece also features four tree species native to our area: Ponderosa Pine, White Western Pine, Douglas Fir, and Western Larch.
